1971: The Sundance Blues Band plays a gig at the Student Prince in Asbury Park.
1972: It’s a big day in the studio for Bruce: he records “For You,” “Growin’ Up,” “Lost in the Flood,” “Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street,” “Visitation at Fort Horn,” “Lady and the Doctor,” and “Arabian Nights,” the last three of which remain unreleased to this day.
1974: A scheduled E Street Band gig in Memphis is cancelled.
1977: Bruce and the E Street Band work on material for what will become Darkness on the Edge of Town at Atlantic Studios in New York City.
1978: Darkness on the Edge of Town is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
1979: Bruce and the E Street Band record the backing track for “The Time That Never Was” at the Power Station in New York City. Bruce will finally complete it 36 years later and release it that same year.
1982: Bruce performs “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” with Clarence and the Red Bank Rockers at Big Man’s West, and then he zips over to The Stone Pony to play six songs with Cats on a Smooth Surface, including the world premiere of “From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come).” Listen to the soundboard-sourced show below.
1983: Bruce records “None But the Brave” at The Hit Factory in New York City.
1994: Bruce gets on stage at the West Hollywood House of Blues and performs six songs with Sacred Hearts, Danny Federici’s post-E Street band.
1999: Bruce and the E Street Band wrap up the European leg of their Reunion Tour at Valle Hovin Stadion in Oslo.
2000: The Reunion Tour has the finish line in sight now–this is Night Eight of ten at the last stand at Madison Square Garden. This show is available for purchase as part of Bruce’s official archive series.
2005: Bruce tour premieres “Janey, Don’t You Lose Heart,” “Spare Parts,” and “Growin’ Up” at his solo acoustic show at Hamburg’s Color Line Arena. As he often does on this tour, Bruce stops to meet fans and sign autographs before the show.
2008: Elliott Murphy and his son guest star when the Magic Tour stops at Parc des Princes in Paris. The setlist features a rare outing of “Janey, Don’t You Lose Heart."
2009: Bruce headlines the Glastonbury Festival in England, but first he joins The Gaslight Anthem during their set for “The ‘59 Sound."
Bruce opens his own set with his first and only performance of “Coma Girl,” in tribute to Joe Strummer. Brian Fallon returns Bruce’s favor from earlier in the day by guest-starring on “No Surrender.”
2016: Night Two (of three) at Gothenburg’s Ullevi opens with the tour premiere of “Mary’s Place” and features two additional tour premieres (“Jole Blon” and “Lucky Town”) in the set as well.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.
2024: Bruce and the E Street Band tour debut “Cadillac Ranch” when World Tour ‘24 comes to Nijmegen in The Netherlands.
2025: Bruce releases Tracks II: The Lost Albums and calls into E Street Radio from the road to celebrate. That evening, he and the E Street Band play a gig at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
